Hospice executives retire as new leaders rise

The hospice industry is experiencing a significant leadership transition as long‑tenured executives retire and new leaders emerge across major organizations. Addus HomeCare President and COO Brad Bickham is among the most prominent departures, announcing his retirement effective March 2026 after eight years of helping drive the company’s growth. Addus leaders note that Bickham will continue offering strategic oversight through 2025 to ensure a smooth transition while the organization executes its long‑term expansion plans, including major acquisitions such as its 2024 purchase of Gentiva’s personal care business.

Hospice of the Chesapeake is also undergoing change with the retirement of Chief Advancement Officer Shauna Chabot, who served the organization for 14 years and helped advance its mission of “Caring for Life.” Her departure led to the creation of a new executive director role focused on strengthening development and community engagement.

AccentCare’s role in this transition is notable, reflecting the organization’s efforts to strengthen its leadership bench and expand its impact in the hospice sector. The company appointed Metoda Posega, RN, as Senior Director of Business Development—bringing more than 35 years of hospice and health care operations experience to the role. Posega’s appointment underscores AccentCare’s strategic focus on enhancing business development, strengthening partnerships, and supporting continued growth as national demand for hospice services increases.

Other organizations, including Montgomery Hospice, are also expanding leadership teams to support operational growth and expand access to care. These collective changes reflect a generational shift in hospice leadership, with many organizations refining strategy, enhancing operational continuity, and positioning themselves for continued expansion in an increasingly competitive environment.
